Despite much improvement over the last few decades, hunger remains a serious problem to so many of today’s children. The poverty that exists in the two-thirds world puts several children each day scraping just to find their next meal. For families in poverty, if the parents of these children are able to provide food for their children they almost certainly cannot provide an education.
What most people in America do not comprehend is that public education in almost all of the developing countries in the world involves students paying fees. The governments of these countries are just not set up to subsidize education for the entire population of children in their homes. So because of the heavy burden paying school fees for multiple children puts on a struggling family the majority of the world’s children do not go to school.
Several of NDI’s national partners have recognized this unfortunate condition and have decided to make a difference by establishing a feeding and literacy center. These centers in Haiti, Kenya, India, and Nepal are sustaining the lives of children while offering them eternal hope through faith in Christ. The children who attend these centers are either orphaned or neglected. They are students who have no other option to attend school and most of these children do not have a regular means for food.
In supporting these feeding and literacy programs, NDI is helping to feed, educate, and instruct in the Word of God almost two thousand children a day. Please help us help more.
