Initiating Self-Support

One of the greatest fears of any man is the fear of not being able to provide for his own family.  You can travel almost anywhere in the world and one of the first struggles that an average man will speak about is the struggle of providing food and shelter for his own family.

This is especially true for the Christian men around the world who have answered the call from God on their life to serve as a pastor or evangelist.

The reality is that many of NDI’s partners are planting churches among villages in such poverty that they will likely never be able to provide a livable income to their pastor from their tithes and offering.

Part of NDI’s commitment to partnering with national Christian leaders is to help them lead the way in demonstrating to the watching world their care for and responsibilities to their own families.  We strive to do this in such a way so that we are not creating within our national partner dependency on foreign support.

Through tactical self-support projects NDI helps provide the capital resources to these pastors and evangelists to start a revenue producing occupation that will ensure that their families are provided for years to come.  These projects must relate to each national partner in their cultural context.  NDI helps provide the tools necessary, such as a tractor, shop, vehicle, or restaurant to aid the family of our national partners in earning steady income.  All of these self-support projects have this common goal; to free up as much time as possible for the pastor or evangelist to fully concentrate on reaching the unreached.
