Ridgecrest

Dear NDI partner,

We are at war and the threat level is high. While NDI and our overseas partners are spreading the Gospel, we often face major spiritual and financial obstacles. Thanks to you, much progress has been made. Now, we need your help to continue fighting this worthiest of battles.

Here in America, we have the Homeland Security Advisory System to keep us informed of the terrorist threat against our great country. Currently, the threat level for the U.S. is at elevated or yellow, but for air travel the threat it is at high or orange.

Just as our nation faces risks and danger both here and abroad, the same is true for us at NDI. Overseas, NDI is facing a threat level of high or orange as well. We are facing challenges from religious militants, natural catastrophes, and political corruption.

Domestically, we are struggling to meet our budget this spring despite the many actions we have taken to reduce costs and increase effectiveness. Yet through these challenges and struggles both NDI and our overseas partners continue to boldly proclaim Christ. So I am asking you to please make a gift of $25, $50, or $100 this month to NDI.

Here are some of the ways we are seeking to be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us through your partnership:

• In the last three years, we have proactively reduced our operations budget by more than $340,000 or 30%. This includes a reduction in staff and other operating expenses.
We are in the midst of relocating our headquarters to a much smaller and more efficient facility.
• Instead of trying to help people in diverse ways, we’re focusing on meeting two areas of need with excellence through our 2020 Vision. Through our national partners over the next ten years, we are going to equip 20,000 church leaders and care daily for 20,000 at-risk children by 2020.
We’re carrying out this vision in fewer countries. While NDI has partners in 20 or so countries, we are spending the vast majority of our time concentrating on partners in ten countries. Once again, this ensures that we are more deeply influencing the culture in these ten countries with the gospel while keeping a presence in several others.
• In the last year, our staff has begun helping to raise their own salary support. This will take time though – to build relationships with people like you who care about us and the vision God has for our partnership together.

All of these recent changes have not weakened us, but instead have helped us to maximize every dollar towards making a more significant difference in places like Haiti, Kenya, and Myanmar.

This is going to be another tough year for non-profits like NDI, a year when we’re all on high alert. According to a new survey by Nonprofit Finance Fund, only 18% of non-profits expect to finish 2010 above break-even. Over the last three years or so, you have entrusted a portion of your God-given resources for NDI to steward in other parts of the world. Thank you so much for doing this!

I am asking you to do so again now. Please make a gift of $25, $50, $100 or more by May 31st so that we may enter the summer months fully focused on ministry and not on finances.

I am asking you to make a gift to Where Needed Most this spring. Your gracious giving to Where Needed Most empowers NDI with invaluable resources such as personnel, supporting services, and supplies to carry out our call to equip Christian leaders and help at-risk children around the world. To date, almost 900 leaders have been equipped and we are up to caring for well over 3,500 at-risk children every day.

As I close, please pray for me. By the time you receive this letter, I will just be returning from a ten day ministry trip from Asia. Accompanying me is Pastor Joe Durham, NDI’s Director of Partnerships. Pray that the leaders and children we reached with spiritual and physical food in Bangladesh, India, and Nepal were very receptive and willing to do go. This is the outreach you are making possible. Thank you and God bless you!

On high alert,

Joseph Williams, CEO

P.S. Please make your gift of $25, $50, or $100 by May 31st so that we can focus on fulfilling the Great Commission and not on meeting our budget.
