Frequently Asked Questions
How was NDI started?
Dr. J.L. Williams founded NDI in Burlington, North Carolina in the summer of 1968. The ministry’s purpose was to share the Gospel and encourage racial reconciliation through music. An interracial singing group was formed, and they began to travel domestically and internationally. As the needs of the worldwide body of Christ began to draw J.L.’s heart to global evangelism, NDI made the full transition to international missions work in the 1980s.Is NDI a missionary-sending agency?
No, we are a partnership agency. This means we come alongside strategic Christian leaders overseas who already have ministries in their own country. We then try to help make their ministries even more effective for fulfilling the Great Commission. What church denomination do you represent or work through?
We are interdenominational and work with any denomination that is evangelical, biblically sound, and is open to missions. What are NDI’s primary missions’ activities?

Currently, NDI is active in 23 countries. This fluctuates from year to year. What is a NDI Expedition?
